G’day,

Well, it’s been somewhat of a mixed-up competition at the moment with Covid-19 and the weather playing a part in Club’s having to find enough players to fill sides with multiple permits obtained for players to double-up on the weekends

This Capers will be somewhat disjointed with a brief rundown of what’s happened since the last one

The Saturday Division 1 game against East Torrens was washed out and did not get started. And is to be scheduled to play later

Division 1 v Sturt. This was not a good result with some five players out through Covid and isolation we suffered a humiliating 16-0 mercy loss. Having to save pitchers for the Tuesday twilight game our youngest player in Ali Tanner had to wear the brunt of Sturt’s batting power, supported by Bryce Allen. Ali did his best, but was not backed up by our batters with the only decent hit coming from Adrian Chenoweth, a double to rightfield. Enough said!

Division 1 v East Torrens. With key players Austin Gallagher and Mike Bishop back our side started to resemble a competent Division 1 side again.

We produced one of our best batting displays of the season collecting 17 safe hits.

We jumped out in the first innings batting in 4 runs via 6 hits and picking up 2 walks. We scored again in the third when Nick Carfora ran out a triple to rightfield and was batted in by Bryce Allen. Two more in the fifth, both batted in.

With Jack Platten and Bryce Allen on base in the seventh, Kosei Suzuki doubled to bat in both runners. Then, what we were all waiting for was whether the ‘big fella’ had the power with the bat, after being laid up with Covid. Well he didn’t disappoint with a towering smash into the creek at rightfield to bat in two runs. Finishing 11-3 up

East Torrens scored their three runs from a couple of miss-fields. Overall our fielders had 21 putouts and 14 assists, 2 errors

Our hitters were, Kosei Suzuki 3’ Nick Platten 3, Mike Bishop 3, Nick Carfora 2, Bryce Allen 2, Austin Gallagher, Adrian Chenoweth, Greg Mosel, Jack Platten 1 each. RBIs came from Kosei Suzuki, Austin Gallagher, Adrian Chenoweth, Bryce Allen 2 each; Nick Platten, Greg Mosel 1 each.

Pitching was entrusted to Greg Mosel who pitched superbly in containing the Redsox batters

to 4 hits, 1 walk, striking out 3, with 3 runs unearned

Some Other Highlights

Division 6  in the last two week have had two 4-4 drawn games. Just can’t break through for the win

Division 3 got through their game in Saturday’s wet. Down 11-1 coming up for their last at bat they piled on 11 runs, then held ET off to win 12-11. What a great effort. Great stuff guys!

Division 8 scraped in with a !7-14 win over East Torrens. This Saturday will see another father/son combination play when Daniel and Carl Weisbender line up in the same team together. Good luck guys!

Junior League D1. It was almost HR derby time when Jackson Pfitzner 2, Jonah Spry and Jett Chenoweth 1 each slugging it out for a big 14 1 win over Souths. Lachie South pitched 4 innings,

45 pitches, 6 strike-outs for 1 run

Intermediate League’s trip against SD was not in vain, coming away with a solid 16-9 win

That’s it for the moment. Cheers for now.
