Capers

28th October 2021

Brought to you this week by Capital United

Howdy,

Not the dynamic start of the last two games. However, the Cardinals opened their account in the second with two runs coming from doubles from Austin Gallagher, Mike Bishop and Bryce Allen.

Woodville kept us under a tight rein until the fourth when leadoff batter Jordan Spratt doubled and was brought home by Jack Platten’s double. We scored again in the sixth from a single HR by Austin Gallagher - now 4-0 up.

While with only 4 runs on the board after six innings the Cardinals were in control as Woodville had not managed to generate any momentum.

Then, out of the blue all hell broke loose and we piled on seven runs with some solid batting and dingers coming from Kosei Suzuki and Mike Bishop and to top off the innings Woodville’s pitcher was thrown out of the game because of an intentional hpb with Sean Maple at the plate.

Woodville managed a run in the seventh and the game finished an 11-1 mercy after seven innings.

Our Hitters were Jack Platten 3, Austin Gallagher (hr), Mike Bishop (hr) 2 each, Kosei Suzuki (hr), Nick Platten, Bryce Allen, Jordan Spratt 1 each. RBIs came from Mike Bishop 4, Kosei Suzuki, Jack Platten 2 each, Austin Gallagher, Bryce Allen 1 each.

Our pitching again excelled with Greg Mosel continuing on from his great start to the season with 6 innings pitched for 2 hits, 6 strikeouts 1 walk, 0 runs. Nick Carfora pitched the one innings for 2 hits

and 1 run.

Other Senior Divisions

Division 2 were in the game at 3-2 down until the sixth when it all fell part with Woodville banging on 12 runs. Unfortunately, our relief pitchers could not get the job done.

Division 3 could not match Woodville and only scored in their last at bat from a bases loaded first pitch dinger by Adrian Chenoweth. The score being 12-4 in favor of Woodville

Division 6 had a massive 14-0 win over Woodville with David Waltham dominating on the hill and David Gibbs back in the side.

Division 7 battled away before going down 12-6 against Woodville. Skipper Dave O’Brien notched up 200 club games. Well done David.

Division 8 are holding their own in games and just failed to get the win with Woodville scoring in their last at bat wo win 12-11. Kate LePore from the Women’s helped out this week to make up the numbers.
