Capers

25th November 2021

Brought to you this week by Australian Fire Services

G’day,

In playing Northern Districts, the bottom side, allowed the Cardinals to start Riley Moore on the hill and Ali Tanner, at leftfield in their first official start in Division 1. Both exceeded expectations.

The first produced one run when Sean Maple singled and Austin Gallagher ran out a big trilple.

Two more in the third was added when with two out and Nick Platten hpb and Sean Maple bb on base and were batted in by singles from Austin Gallagher and Greg Mosel.

Norths capitulated in the field and gifted the Cardinals a further four runs when Nick Carfora successfully led off with a bunt and further hits by Ali Tanner (his first in Division 1, Sean Maple, and Austin Gallagher.

Greg Mosel led off with a big triple and was batted in by Nic Carfora to score our eighth run.

Nick Platten forced an error at first bsase and was batted in by Sean Maple who in turn scored from Nic Carfora’s single - now 10 runs.

Bryce Allen scampered around the bases to finish on third on a deep hit to rightfield then came home on a wild pitch.

May be an image of 2 people, people playing sport, people standing, outdoors and textWith no score from the Reds the game was a mercy seven innings with the Cardinals finishing11-0 up

Our Hitters were: Sean Maple, Austin Gallagher, Nic Carfora 3 each; Greg Mosel 2; Nick Platten, Ali Tanner, Bryce Allen 1 each. RBIs came from Austin Gallagher 3, Nick Carfora 2, Sean Maple, Greg Mosel 1 each.

Riley Moore started on the hill and pitched 6 innings for 2 hits, 7 strikeouts, 0 walks and 0 runs. Just a superb outing in his first Division 1 stint for the Cardinals - warming up for when we start twilights and the one double-header.

Ali Tanner was given the pill for the seventh and commanded a presence striking out his first batter, walking the second then striking out the next two for side and game. Well done Ali!

Our Other Senior Games:

Division 2 had a comfortable 5-1 win over Norths. However, all five runs were scored in the first two innings with nothing from the next five innings off average pitching from Norths. Todd Marshall’s pitching restricted the opposition to the one run and deserved more with the bat from his teammates.

Division 3 had a Bye.

Division 6 stiched up North 13-0 with another father/son combination taking part. Coach Adrian Frinsdorf and son Henry stepping on the diamond together. Good to see!

Division 7 keep batting away and keep pushing the opposition but 7-14 was hard to make up. Keep trying Guys!

Division 8 came up against a seasoned Goodwood with a former Division 1 in Jamie Bushell being the hurler and lost 12-2

Women’s League having their first home game came up against a tough Sturt and went down 11-1 Adrian and Henry

Our Junior Leagues

Senior League battled hard all day but unfortunately went down 7-1 against East Torrens on Sunday and had to butter-up again on Wednesday’s twilight against Goodwood and again had a loss, going down 8-1. Junior League D1 fought hard but went down 8-1to East Torrens

Junior League D2 had an absorbing game against Golden Grove before going down 14-18

Intermediate League just could not squeeze the extra couple of runs across the plate against East

Torrens and went down 7-6
