Howdy,

Division 1 Saturday 28th November:

Not the best day of baseball against top side West Torrens. While we were somewhat in the game at the bottom of the fifth at 0-2 a pitching change by the Cardinals saw the Eagles accumulate 8 safe hits including a three run bomb and added 9 runs from some big hitting finishing the game in a mercy seven innings at 11-0.

However, with only 3 hits to our name we never threatened the Eagles, most disappointing. Greg Mosel tried hard for five innings giving up 6 hits, striking out 5, walking 2 for 2 runs - he did his job!

Our three hits came from Kosei Suzuki, Austin Gallagher and Mike Bishop.

Division1 Tuesday 30th November (Twilight Game)

A much better result from our first twilight game this season. Up against Port Adelaide, we were a little apprehensive after the drubbing from West Torrens. In the past Port have not been easy beats

Our first at bat saw Kosei Suzuki lead off with a Hr over the leftfield fence. Likewise Sean Maple followed suit. Bryce Allen drove in Austin Gallagher who was on via a wild throw giving us a three run start.

Dushan Rusic, Port’s pitcher, regained control until the fourth when Bryce Allen beat out an infield hit stole second, advanced on Jack Platten’s infield out and scampered home on a wild pitch, now we have four runs.

In the meantime Port scored from a three-run bomb - their only runs for the game.

A 4-3 lead was not a great advantage, although Riley Moore was in command, we needed a buffer. That came in the fifth when Rusic became a little wayward and with three runners on base Port’s coach elected to give Austin Gallagher a free pass and put him on to load the bases.

A bit risky as Mike Bishop was the next batter up. Mike wasted no time and belted the first pitch over the centerfield fence for a grand slam Hr. That saw the end of Rusic and gave us an 8-3 victory.

Our Hitters were: Sean Maple 2, Bryce Allen 2; Kosei Suzuki, Mike Bishop,1 each. RBIs came from Mike Bishop 4, 1 each from Kosei Suzuki, Sean Maple, Bryce Allen.

Riley Moore took the pill and for the full 7 innings gave up 5 hits, struck out 5, walked 2 for 3 runs showing that he’ll be a valuable asset for the remainder of the season. Greg Mosel became the designated hitter, while not gaining a safe hit put two long balls into the outfield.

May be an image of 2 people, people standing and text Division 6 scored their runs in the third and fourth innings to

On A Sad Note!

It is with sadness that I inform members, past players and supporters of the recent passing of Rex Norsworthy, our President Tony’s father, who after a short illness passed away on Tuesday.

Rex was a staunch supporter of the Kensington Baseball Club throughout the early years of Tony’s baseball career and beyond.

Our deepest sympathies go out to Tony, Teresa and their Family at this difficult time. Rex will be sadly missed by all!

Cheers for now. See you at the ballpark
